Quote from probably one of the best books I have ever read….

And it’s a free ebook – The Business You Were Born To Create by Nick Williams. See http://www.inspired-entrepreneur.com/ for your free copy)

Help with Relationships…

I came across this today – Ariel Ford is a writer, amongst other things and I often read her posts on Spirit Library. I normally only recommend books I have read so I would like to make it clear that I have not read this but wanted to share the details with you anyway.

In days where couples often struggle to understand each other, I felt it was quite important to share this. This theory is based on an old Japanese ideology. See Ariel’s video:

You Can Heal Your Life…..

I just spent one and a half hours watching Louise Hay’s You can Heal Your Life – The Movie.  Very powerful indeed.

Here is the Trailer.

I have read the book a few times but the movie really resonated with me – I am more of a visual person! I really like Louise’s work.

Do Something Altruistic For Someone Everyday……..

This is a lovely exercise I found in the book – The Gift Of Peace – Thoughts for a Peaceful World written and produced by The Brahma Kumaris:

Do Something altruistic for someone everyday.

Develop the habit of enjoying doing this, not for any reward but just for the sake of it and discover the fruit of that action.

The best gift is to give happiness and to finish sorrow.

Has anyone read the Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn?

These are four short books amalgamated into one. It is the second time I am reading this. Florence lived from 1871 to 1940’s but her words are very relevent in todays life. If you have heard of The Secret – it is kind of like that but clearer and deeper in meaning. The four books are:

There are very useful affirmations that I wrote and recited daily the first time that I read this book a few years ago. I would highly recommend this.

Your Destiny……………

This is an excerpt from The Upinshads – translated by Eknath Easwaran. You can look this up on a search engine to gain a background. It’s an ancient Indian text/philosphy. Well worth a read.

“As a person acts, so he becomes in life. Those who do good become good; those who do harm become bad.

Good deeds make one pure; bad deeds make you impure.

You are what your deep, driving desire is.

As your desire is, so is your will.

As your will is, so is your deed.

As your deed is, so is your destiny.”

Excerpt from Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic about the Ego…….

I would like to share this with you – I found this really interesting. I highly recommend reading this book. I learned loads.

“the ego can be very clever at making us think we need all sorts of things that we don’t, and these things do nothing but distract us from our innate sense of peace and contentment. It is this on which so much of our economy is built. Although we are told we live in a capitalistic society, we really live under commercialism. In capitalism, people produce buy and sell products based on supply and demand. The demand part of the equation is supposed to be about need.

Under commercialism, the same equation is used, but consumers are made to think they need things that they really don’t. This causes them to work harder, spend more and earn less. This dynamic not only serves large corporations, but it also serves the egos.

The ego loves to keep us looking for peace in places where we will not find it. As long as you believe you can find peace in a faster car or a better stereo system, you will continue to look for peace but never find it. When you do this, you are damning yourself to a life of wondering in the dark, feeling around for something that is not there.”
