Do Something Altruistic For Someone Everyday……..

This is a lovely exercise I found in the book – The Gift Of Peace – Thoughts for a Peaceful World written and produced by The Brahma Kumaris:

Do Something altruistic for someone everyday.

Develop the habit of enjoying doing this, not for any reward but just for the sake of it and discover the fruit of that action.

The best gift is to give happiness and to finish sorrow.

The Love Foundation…………

The Love Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the mission of inspiring people to love unconditionally. Our vision is to assist people by building a practical foundation and understanding of unconditional love within individuals and society as a whole.

Choose Love

It may be easy to look around our world today and see the appearance of chaos, difficulty and strife.  Yet, when we come from an open heart, we can also see our opportunity to love all things into balance, joy, harmony and peace.  This planet does not need more visions of desperation, fear, doubt and hate – it requires an abundance of love, especially unconditional love, to heal and restore the beauty contained in every moment.  This becomes the easier path once we take the first step and begin to share our love.

When we bring unconditional love back into our personal, professional, community and family lives, we begin the journey of restoring wholeness and happiness to our planetary adventure.  Of course it takes determined effort on our part as the old ways of being are quick to return in our mind.  However, this effort to love is rewarded with a new perspective on everything and all life benefits as a result.

Here at The Love Foundation, whether through Global Love Day each May 1st, our annual Art, Essay and Poetry Invitational, the Love Ambassador or Act of Love designations, and our newest program, Loving Earth, each of these opportunities are simply ways to keep the understanding of love fresh in our collective hearts and minds.

Ten years ago we started this nonprofit organization as a way to inspire and remind people of the simple power of loving unconditionally.  In just these few years, we have witnessed a growing worldwide momentum embracing this opportunity to bring the awareness of unconditional love back into our daily lives.

We look forward to expanding this dialogue and welcome you to walk this journey of unconditional love in your part of the world.

A Beautiful Piece on Peace……………

You are what you think. Think that you are a being of peace, and peace will become your new personality. share good news with others. Always have something interesting prepared to share with those you meet. Remember to have a peaceful thought at least once a day.

Taken from The Gift Of Peace book by the Brahma Kumaris.

Something I like to to as often as I can…..

This is something I have picked up from my Indian upbringing, mainly from my Mum. My Mum is a person who has been through lots of bad times in her life but she has never forgotten her faith and it is her faith that has pulled her through over the years. She does this on a daily basis.

And that is to once a day, thank the Universe. So my Mum will thank the various elements by joining her hands and bowing her head – for example to the Sun whilst saying thank you Sun for coming out today. Thank you for the rays you are providing us. Thank you to the natural flows of water that nourish out environment and give us water to drink. Thank you to the trees for giving us oxygen and being so beautiful to look at.

Whilst we are on the subject of trees, I have never met anyone who loves plants and trees as much as my Mum. At times there have been more plants in our house than furniture. She see’s God’s beauty in every plant and tree. The more vivacious they are, the more she loves them. She can talk for England about it. She comments on how God created Evergreens so that we have colour in the Winter too. Then she will say how thoughtful and wonderful can God be if He provided us with such beauty in nature. I admire her way of thinking.

So when I am driving to or from work, I do the same. It brings me much joy to do this. I think it is as simple as just putting some positive energy out there and it makes me peaceful and grateful to be alive. I personally love the Moon and Stars. I am lucky where I live because you have a beautiful and huge sky at night. I try to do this as often as I can because it is one thing that makes me happy.

For those of you who do Yoga, you will know that this is common practice. you have postures as the Sun Salute, Moon Salute etc. This is the same concept and is spiritually nourishing. It pulls you out of your closed zone and makes you feel part of something big and wonderful – that we are all a part of.

A Quote from “The Gift Of Peace”

www.bkwsu.orgThe Gift Of Peace is a small book published by the Brahma Kumaris that will cost you £2.00. The book was written by on of the long serving students and teacher of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University just after he visited New York 3 weeks after September 11th 2001. It is a fantastic collection of thoughts, sayings and advice on how to be peaceful and happy.

Here is one excerpt that hit home for me:

Circumstances are like objects. They are not alive; you bring life to them.

The positive is more powerful than the negative. The positive is innate. The negative indicates what is missing inside you. Light exists and its absence is darkness.

Never forget you are a human being who can decide the attitude you take in life.

You have an enourmous positive inner potential still to be discovered. these thoughts will help you face any circumstance in life with a different perspective.

This resonates a lot of truth for me when I sit back and think about it.

Living In Your Nature, by Mike George………

Here is an excerpt from Mike George’s weekly Newsletter that I subscribe to. I totally understand what Mike is saying. I definitly had the “its them not me” problem for years before I took a really hard look at myself with dissapointment with what I had become. But then you have to go through the rough to get to the smooth in this life!

The absence of peace in our life is demonstrated by the number of ways that we search, usually in vain, to alleviate the stresses and strains of modern living.  If inner peace was present in our life we would likely travel less, eat less, shop less, work less, struggle less, talk less and think less.  In some cases ‘less’ might, for short periods, become not at all!  Such are some of the ways that we search for peace.  It is a huge breakthrough moment when the penny drops, and we realise inner peace is generated from within and that no achievement or accumulation of anything ‘more’ from any source outside can induce it.  It is also a moment when peace is recognised as the power in the engine of our life.   It is the very ground of our being and just as buildings are only built on solid foundations so we cannot build a truly stable and happy life unless we find the power of our inner peace.
